My personal story...

In February 2019, I was diagnosed with Ushers Syndrome 2, an inherited genetic condition characterized by hearing impairment and gradual vision loss caused by retinitis pigmentosa.

 

While I have always coped with my hearing impairment throughout my life, it has been the gradual vision loss that I have found to be frightening and frustrating. However, I have been very fortunate to have been introduced to Guide-Dogs Association in Johannesburg, South Africa. My journey with them has been phenomenal in giving me back my independence, confidence, and freedom.
